Procurement Website UI/UX
WAWF is a web-based application that allows DoD vendors to submit and track their invoices, receipts and acceptance documents electronically. To assist CACI with this upgrade, they hired Upstate Interactive, a team of software engineers based in NY, who contracted me to spearhead the UX Discovery and Design process and identify recommended solutions centered around how to improve the UI and UX for both internal and external facing WAWF application users.
Discovery & UX Recommendations
Upon completion of the Discovery and Design phase, I produced a document with user personas, user interview findings, user story documentation, benchmark comparisons, as well as UX recommendations that convey usability requirements for the design.
User Interviews
As always, we discovered a lot during the user interviews that helped us outline a strong list of UX recommendations. For example, the suite does so much more than just invoicing and many of its users were not fully aware of the full scope of what is offered. So we were able to write user stories that would influence a truly user-friendly design.
The design was largely based upon benchmarking data after a careful review of the other sites of a similar type. We then improved upon the branding and visual design to make it more engaging. We introduced a strong value proposition, calls-to-action, user control, and a contemporary minimalistic design aesthetic. The design also incorporates Material Design guidelines.
