Website Experiences UI/UX
L. & J.G. Stickley, Inc. is a manufacturer and marketer of solid wood and upholstered furniture. While I worked there, the company operated a 400,000 square foot facility in Manlius, New York, an upholstery plant in North Carolina, and thirteen retail showrooms in the U.S. I worked there for 8 years as a web designer and UI/UX designer.
In addition to supporting web experiences for various Stickley product lines and authorized dealer network, I also supported the web experiences for Stickley Audi & Company, the retail arm of the company, which also sold other furniture and home goods manufacturers.
Stickley had also rescued and acquired several high end furniture brands over the years. I supported the UX for these websites as Stickley made incremental changes to the product designs and marketing approach.
Introducing eCommerce to the Stickley Websites
I was the Lead UX Designer on a variety of eCommerce initiatives at Stickley, as the company launched and iterated on several eCommerce ventures. Stickley exclusively manufactures high quality furniture and the brand has a proud history, it was therefore necessary to ensure the same standard of quality was maintained throughout the customer’s experience on the various Stickley websites.
Stickley Studio
Stickley Studio was a new line of modern furniture that had separate branding and a separate website with eCommerce to appeal to a younger demographic. I designed the mockups and prototype. After extensive benchmarking of leaders in eCommerce furniture space from Joybird and Restoration Hardware to Crate & Barrel.
My designs featured ordering experiences for fabric and leather selections on upholstered goods, shopping cart experiences, finish options, product features, collection navigation, and style personalization.
Collector Edition Pre-Order
The Collector Edition campaign was 100% digital and we doubled pre-orders in just one year through a well-honed experience. Users felt a sense of urgency to pre-order before the cut-off date in order to receive their special edition piece with the serialized plaque.
Stickley Spotlight
The Stickley Spotlight microsite was a site where users could learn about the construction and design features that make Stickley unique through interactions and beautiful graphic design. We began with a visual identity and logo design for the microsite. The microsite functions as a presentation with interactive feature callouts that educate the user about the impressive construction features hidden away in Stickley furniture. The home page has several "blocks" that each lead to a dedicated page that "spotlights" a popular product SKU.
The Highlands Collection
These simple designs offer a clear window into the beautiful Stickley Highlands Collection. The “Room Details” buttons drill down to pages that offer specific information on each product in the room.
Selectionals by Stickley
The clear design of this landing page gives a visual overview of the custom upholstery program by Stickley. The user walks through the different series as the page scrolls.
